The Professional Pharmacy Technician Program includes three comprehensive courses (Pharmacy Technician, Pharmacy Calculations and Pharmacology), online exam prep and hands-on externship:

1. Pharmacy Technician Course (60 hours) – This course addresses the key concepts and fundamental knowledge required of a skilled pharmacy technician. It includes textbook readings with many in-depth exercises and step-by-step instruction. The course includes:

  • 8 comprehensive lessons

2. Pharmacy Calculations Course (60 hours) – This course uses easy-to-follow text and instructional webcasts to help you learn vital calculations of the pharmacy technician field. Understanding the knowledge of mathematical concepts is critical to the success of the pharmacy technician – learn to calculate problems using basic math skills. You'll also gain the know-how to calculate community and institutionally-based problems. The course includes:

3. Pharmacology Course (30 hours) – This course includes a concentrated review of drug contraindications and clinical implications, which are organized by body system. Special considerations are also discussed in detail for children, pregnant and nursing women, the aging patient population, end-of-life care, substance abuse, and herbal or alternative drug/herb interactions. This course includes:

Pharmacy Technician Online Exam Prep – This exam prep is designed to prepare you to pass the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s (PTCB) certification exam and become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). With 450+ practice questions, you’ll get a hands-on review of vital terms and concepts.

5. Pharmacy Technician Externship – Upon successfully completing the Professional Pharmacy Technician Program and passing the PTCB exam, Allied will arrange a valuable externship experience for you. The externship will allow you to implement your newly developed skills under direct supervision in an actual work environment.

*Special Note: Call Allied to confirm externship program availability in your state. Externship placement is not guaranteed. All students must apply to the program and complete the prerequisite criteria before being accepted. Positions in the externship program are contingent on availability at each pharmacy location. Students may also set-up their own externship at any other retail or hospital facility. Externship is not available in Florida or New Hampshire.
